Discovery Pacts with Red Cross for Haiti PSAs

LONDON: Discovery Networks EMEA has teamed up with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to create public-service announcements for the worldwide market that put out a call to action about the relief efforts for Haiti.

The 15-second PSAs feature visuals and text facts about the earthquake. The end screens will include calls to action, including contact details to make a donation. The Haiti Appeal PSAs will air across Discovery Networks’ portfolio of channels and social-media sites throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Arthur Bastings, the executive VP and managing director for Discovery Networks EMEA, said: “We watched with the world as the tragic news unfolded in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti, and felt compelled to take action.

“As a media company we have the resources and ability to reach and engage with a large global audience. When we decided to broadcast an appeal across EMEA we found there were no international public service announcements available, so our creative team was quick to offer their time and talents to create two spots in partnership with the IFRC.”
