Animal Planet Brings Back Survival Docuseries

LONDON: Darlow Smithson Productions has been commissioned by Animal Planet to produce a third season of I Shouldn’t Be Alive, which tells the stories of people who survived extreme situations.

Originally commissioned by Discovery Channel and Channel 4, I Shouldn’t Be Alive features interviews with the actual people who have found themselves unexpectedly thrust into struggles for survival. These people defied the odds and lived to tell their personal stories. The series returns for a third run on Animal Planet in the U.S. on January 15 at 9 p.m.

Tom Brisley, the creative director for Darlow Smithson Productions, said: I Shouldn’t Be Alive is back and features even more epic and awe inspiring encounters than the last two series. Every film has an extraordinary physical ordeal at its heart, challenging audiences to question what they would do in similar circumstances—would they just give up or would they fight to the last breath to defeat unimaginable odds?”

Animal Planet’s senior VP of programming and scheduling, Rick Holzman, who was part of the team that brought first seasons to Discovery Channel, added, “The series proved such a hit and consistent performer when it was featured on Animal Planet in 2009, we decided to bring it back for a third season.”
