Singapore, U.K. Collaboration Announced at ATF

SINGAPORE: At the Asia TV Forum, the Media Development Authority of Singapore announced a deal with the U.K.’s South West Screen (SWS) agency to jointly develop multiplatform content.

SWS is a development agency for the film, TV and digital media industries in the South West of England. It is working with the MDA on a new funding initiative, Multi-Platform Content Across Continents, which will be followed up by a series of projects between the two organizations. The alliance, backed by the U.K. Trade and Investment, sees Singaporean and British producers and digital media companies co-developing concepts with multiplatform potential and cross-media elements. All genres will be open to the funding scheme, with a focus on kids, drama, documentary and factual entertainment.

MDA and SWS will jointly provide development funding of up to £50,000 for up to two selected projects. The £25,000 for each selected project will be shared equally between the Singaporean and British co-production partners.

“The collaboration with South West Screen builds upon the positive relationship that Singapore has with the U.K.," said Dr. Christopher Chia, the CEO of the MDA. "It is also a reflection of the growing synergies between the two countries to develop compelling multiplatform content with commercial potential that will be enjoyed globally. Leveraging on complementary skill sets, we also look forward to some experimentation and innovative ideas that will come out of this initiative."
