Bored to Death Scores HBO Renewal

LOS ANGELES: A second season of the comedy Bored to Death will begin production in 2010, following a strong first outing.

The show’s debut episode drew in 4.1 million viewers on HBO and HBO On Demand. The episode also received around a half-million downloads/views through a free preview on iTunes and Comcast’s Fancast. Bored to Death, created by Jonathan Ames, follows the misadventures of a young Brooklyn writer who emulates classic detective novels with his own private investigation services. The show airs Sundays on HBO.

Bored to Death offers a unique combination of noir mystery and neurotic humor that has been an instant hit with critics, while the audience for the show is growing steadily,” noted Michael Lombardo, the president of the programming group and West Coast operations, HBO. “I’m delighted that we can bring the show back for another season next year.”
