9 Story Preps Kids’ Version of Survivorman

TORONTO, October 8:
Canadian animation outfit 9 Story Entertainment has announced its first foray
into live-action content, inking a deal with Les Stroud to develop a kids’
version of his Discovery Channel reality series Survivorman.

"9 Story Entertainment
is drawing on our extensive creative and production skills to make a mark in
producing high-quality live-action programming for kids," said Vince
Commisso, the CEO and co-partner of 9 Story Entertainment. "Our mandate
has always been to create enduring brands. Les Stroud's Survivorman incorporates science, biology, geology and
creativity along with very practical information that speaks to man's innate
survival instinct. We look forward to working closely with Les to adapt these
and similar concepts for younger viewers, creating an exciting series that will
include fascinating experiences with compelling storytelling. With Les as the
series guide, it is sure to be an inspiration for kids the world over."

Stroud noted: "From
the very start, I knew that Survivorman was a natural for kids. The timing for a kids' series of this nature
is ideal. I am consistently inundated with viewer emails from kids and parents
requesting visits at schools and clubs. The thanks I receive from parents whose
kids have turned from video games to outdoor adventures is extremely rewarding.
This is an exciting time and we look forward to working with 9 Story on
bringing the fun and thrills of Survivorman to a younger and extremely eager audience."

The series will be
developed jointly with Les Stroud's and partner David Brady's Survivorman
Productions.
