8 out of 10 Cats Re-Commissioned for Ninth Season

LONDON: Zeppotron, an Endemol company, has been commissioned by Channel 4 to produce a ninth season with a further seven half-hour episodes of the comedy panel show 8 out of 10 Cats.

Jimmy Carr returns to host, and Sean Lock and Jason Manford return as team captains. 8 out of 10 Cats is a comedy panel show that debates, disputes and deliberates over topical surveys and statistics. Two celebrities join each team captain every week to give their take on what’s going on in Britain today. The new run will also feature non-topical special episodes. The show premiered on Channel 4 in 2005 and has been a ratings hit, regularly attracting more than 2.5 million viewers in its evening time slot.

Darren Smith, the commissioning editor at Channel 4, said, “It’s one of the freshest and most consistently funny panel shows on TV and showcases a wide variety of first-class comedy talent. I’m very pleased to have it back in 2010.”
