LONDON: Channel 4’s 4Rights division has appointed Dominic Schreiber as rights development manager and Ashley Smith as project manager, rights development, as it gears up to expand its U.K. and international businesses this year.

Schreiber is tasked with working with independent producers and rightsholders on financing and developing properties for Channel 4 that 4Rights can then exploit via its various businesses, including on DVD, through live events, publishing and second-window sales in the U.K. He will also explore potential co-financing and development partnerships with U.S. networks and producers, as well as build relationships with advertising agencies and brands.

Smith takes up the new 4Rights post following a stint as product manager at 4DVD. Both Schreiber and Smith report to Mike Morris, the managing director of 4Rights.

“4Rights has a fantastic track record for working with indies to maximize the value of their rights, and I’m excited to be joining the team in this new role," Schreiber said. "We have a great brand, a highly experienced team of rights experts and money to invest, all of which makes us an attractive partner of choice for producers.”
