CULVER CITY: The recently launched U.S. 3D channel 3net, along with the Franco-German network Arte have commissioned Hurricane: The Anatomy, a 3×1-hour series from Saint Thomas Productions that looks at the impact of hurricanes.

Hurricane: The Anatomy delves into the stories behind hurricanes and the effects these forces of nature have on the planet. The series is directed by Andy Byatt, who directed a number of episodes of the successful BBC wildlife documentaries Blue Planet and Planet Earth, and produced by Saint Thomas’ Jacqueline Farmer and Bertrand Loyer. The project will be distributed internationally by Village Distribution, the distribution arm of Saint Thomas Productions, both in 3D and 2D formats.

Farmer and Loyer said of the program: “The series is a great opportunity to do some groundbreaking work with scientists at NASA, NOAA and the NHC and 3D is a fantastic medium for telling the story of the hurricane.”
