3DD Wraps Production on Judy Garland TV Special

LONDON, March 15: 3DD
Productions has completed production on a special tribute to Judy Garland
featuring recording artist Rufus Wainwright.

The special, titled Rufus
Wainwright sings Judy Garland—Live at the London Palladium,
has already been pre-sold to Channel 4 in the U.K.
and picked up by Universal/Geffen Records for a worldwide DVD release. The show
will be distributed internationally by 3DD Entertainment, and will be presented
as part of the company’s slate at MIPTV in Cannes.

The special is shot in
high-definition and pays tribute to Garland’s legendary show from Carnegie Hall
in 1961. Wainwright, backed by a 36-piece orchestra, will perform Judy Garland
classics such as When You’re Smiling, Do It Again, San
Francisco
, and more. He will be
joined on stage by Judy Garland’s daughter Lorna Luft; his mother,
singer/songwriter Kate McGarrigle; and his sister Martha Wainwright. Rufus
Wainwright sings Judy Garland—Live at the London Palladium
is produced by Andrew Higgie and directed by
Russell Thomas.

Andrew Higgie, the MD at
3DD, commented: “Rufus’ Judy Garland evening has been one of the most talked
about concerts in living memory—both in New York and London. Being able
to bring 3DD on board to film it, for both a television special and DVD, has
been a real privilege and great fun.”
