LONDON: Sky has greenlit a sixth season of the doc series Extreme World, led by Ross Kemp.

The new season will premiere on Sky1 next year. It will also be available for online streaming via NOW TV. The show, produced by Freshwater Films, follows Kemp as he travels around the world. He will touch on such topics as migrants smuggling across boards and the deadly consequences of the war on drugs.

Celia Taylor, the head of non-scripted commissioning at Sky, said: “Extreme World has been a huge success for us, giving our audiences an insight into the dramatic human stories behind the headlines at home and overseas. We are delighted that Ross is returning to the channel as we know our viewers value and enjoy his brave and gripping reporting.”

Tom Sheahan, the executive producer at Freshwater Films, said: “We’re thrilled to have the greenlight for series six of Extreme World. Tackling these important and gritty subjects can be challenging but we have an incredibly talented team who are committed to getting the access and telling the stories that Ross has become known for.”
