Telkomsel in Indonesia is launching Nick Jr. as the first linear kids’ channel on its network.

This is Viacom International Media Networks’ first linear channel deal with a mobile partner in Indonesia. The rollout is expected by the end of the second quarter. The channel, which features such titles as Nella the Princess Knight, will be offered in English and Bahasa Indonesian.

Telkomsel previously launched the Nickelodeon Play app in Indonesia.

“The introduction of the Nick Jr. linear channel on Telkomsel is another strong example of Viacom forging deep and innovative partnerships with OTT and mobile distributors like Telkomsel in Indonesia,” said Mark Whitehead, the president and managing director for the Asia Pacific at Viacom International Media Networks. “We are not only extending our existing offering to Telkomsel’s subscribers but expanding our reach with preschool kids and their parents in Indonesia—with smart and fun content Indonesian parents can trust.”

“Our subscribers are watching more and more video via mobile and we need to provide compelling content to suit their needs, especially for kids when they are on the move with their families,” said Crispin Tristram, the VP for digital lifestyle at Telkomsel. “Adding Nick Jr. to our portfolio will give our subscribers on-the-go access to Nick Jr.’s educational and entertaining shows, supported by our 4G network.”

Telkomsel has more than 196 million subs in Indonesia, making it the country’s largest mobile operator.
