HBO Europe has acquired the new book-based drama ZeroZeroZero from STUDIOCANAL for its pan-regional feed across the Nordics and CEE.

ZeroZeroZero is inspired by the novel from Gomorrah author Roberto Saviano about the global cocaine trade. The series, which is being filmed in six languages, stars Andrea Riseborough, Dane DeHaan, Harold Torres and Gabriel Byrne. It is produced by Cattleya for Sky, Canal+ and Amazon.

ZeroZeroZero is developed by Leonardo Fasoli, Stefano Bises, Saviano and Stefano Sollima, and written by Fasoli and Mauricio Katz. It is directed by Sollima, Pablo Trapero and Janus Metz.

Beatriz Campos, the head of international sales at STUDIOCANAL, said: “This is our first pan-regional deal with HBO Europe and we are delighted to kick off our relationship with the presale of such a highly anticipated new title.”

Ragnhild Thorbech, the senior VP of acquisitions and programming at HBO Europe, added: “We are very excited to present ZeroZeroZero on our services, allowing our audience to follow the creative team behind Gomorrah on their newest endeavor. We were drawn to the authenticity of ZeroZeroZero, in the difficult arena of global drug-trafficking and with multiple story lines, and the result will no doubt be thrilling.”
