FOX Orders Pilot for New Installment of 24

PASADENA: FOX has ordered a pilot for 24: Legacy, a potential new installment of the drama franchise, this one without lead character Jack Bauer.

Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24), Manny Coto (24) and Evan Katz (24) will serve as executive producers. The project will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Gordon’s Teakwood Lane Productions. The pilot will feature an all-new cast of characters and retain the real-time format, with each episode representing one hour of an eventful day. 24: Legacy will center on a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back.

FOX also announced the return of Prison Break as an event series. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will reprise their roles as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. The original producing team of Paul T. Scheuring, Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Olmstead are also returning for the new chapter. Additional details on the new event series will be announced at a later date.

The network has renewed the hit drama Empire for a third season. Season two premieres on March 30. Scream Queens is coming back as well, greenlit for a second season.
