Zodiak Adds Dutch Format to Portfolio

LONDON: Devil’s Advocate, a new reality series that tries to proclaim the innocence of some of the world’s most heinous criminals, has joined the catalogue of Zodiak Entertainment Distribution.

Produced by Palm Plus in the Netherlands, Devil’s Advocate stars defense lawyer Gerard Spong, who tries to convince a jury and studio audience that infamous lawbreakers might actually be innocent. The show recently stirred up controversy when an episode airing on Nederland 2 exonerated Osama bin Laden for masterminding the 9/11 terrorist attacks, making the case that he was a victim of "Western propaganda."

Matthieu Porte, the head of format sales at Zodiak Entertainment Distribution, said, "Devil’s Advocate has huge potential throughout the world. As well as infamous global lawbreakers each country has its own notorious villains so the scope of the format is extensive. This is an intelligent show—the real arguments put forward from both defence and prosecution are riveting to watch, giving viewers a stronger understanding of how the law works and how ordinary people on a jury sometimes may reach a verdict that no one wants to hear."
