ZDF Inks Archive Distribution Deal for Skyworks’ HD Aerial Footage

MAINZ,
September 5: ZDF.archive, the footage licensing arm of ZDF Enterprises, has
reached a deal with the British production company Skyworks to distribute its
library of high-definition aerial footage in German-language territories.

Skyworks
currently has more than 300 hours of high-definition aerial shots from France,
Great Britain, Italy, Ireland, Germany, the Benelux countries and Denmark, as
well as moving pictures of flights over the Alps. The footage was produced
using a 360-degree gyrostabilized camera attached under a helicopter. Skyworks’
roster of clients includes the BBC, ITV, The Smithsonian Network, Granada and
Discovery.

Fred Burcksen, the VP of distribution, merchandising and
investments at ZDF Enterprises, commented: “I am extremely delighted with this
new and pace-setting cooperation. More and more broadcasters today are using
high definition, and the same applies to the world of film and advertising. HD
is a practical, flexible and cost-effective way to maintain a quality that is
comparable to that of 35mm film. Furthermore, it can be seamlessly converted
into the 35mm format. Skyworks' spectacular films offer ZDF.archive's clients a
practically limitless reservoir of ideas and applications.”
