William Morris to Rep Shaftesbury

LOS ANGELES/TORONTO,
February 6: Shaftesbury Films has entered into a representation agreement with
the William Morris Agency (WMA), expanding the Canadian producer’s reach into
the U.S. market.

The deal follows a recent
sale secured by WMA for Shaftesbury’s new one-hour drama series The Listener to NBC.

“Shaftesbury Films has a
strong track record in the international market and this partnership with
William Morris will help strengthen our ties in the U.S. market,” said Christina
Jennings, the chairman and CEO of Shaftesbury Films. “We were extremely
pleased that they have agreed to represent us and that the William Morris
Agency is in our corner to help us expand our reach.” She added, “There seems
to be a new pattern emerging at American TV networks, which have lately become
more open to working with production companies outside the U.S.”

“We are very excited about
this partnership with Shaftesbury Films,” said Mark Itkin, the co-head of
worldwide television for William Morris. “We believe that there is a desire for
new and unique sources of programming and that by joining forces with
Shaftesbury Films, we will help to expose their already successful product to a
much wider audience in the U.S.”
