Warner SVOD Service Gets Dutch Launch

BURBANK/UTRECHT: Warner Bros. Entertainment has secured carriage for the Warner TV subscription video-on-demand service in the Netherlands on Ziggo.

The Dutch cable operator will offer more than 150 motion pictures, 600 TV series episodes and 100 hours of animation from Warner Bros. each year to viewers in the Netherlands. This includes hit series such as Friends and ER, and films like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, The Matrix, The Shining and Ocean’s Eleven.

Ziggo customers will have the option to purchase or rent a physical DVD or download movies through Ziggo’s On-Demand service on the same day as their release. Titles available include RocknRolla, Yes Man and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, as well as a wide range of catalogue and direct-to-video films covering all genres. A range of Warner Bros. movies in HD will be added to the offer later in the year.

“We are pleased to be licensing our programming for exhibition on the Warner TV service in the Netherlands and to be working closely with Ziggo to give Dutch consumers a legal and reliable way to watch our television and film programming at their convenience, on demand,” said Jeffrey Schlesinger, the president of Warner Bros. International Television.

“We remain committed to finding new and innovative ways to make our entertainment available to the broadest possible audience, and so we are delighted to be working with Ziggo to allow many more consumers in the Netherlands to watch our TV and movie content when and how they want,” added Jaap Brujnen, the managing director of Warner Home Video for Benelux.

Commented Marcel Nijhoff, the CCO of Ziggo, “Quality is an absolute must to make our new Interactive TV service a success. This agreement with Warner Bros Entertainment will ensure our customers we can deliver them high-quality content.”
