Warner Bros. Features Set for Early VOD Release in Korea

LONDON, September 30:
Warner Bros. today announced plans to release select titles to video-on-demand
platforms in Korea two weeks prior to their DVD rollout, given the Asian
nation’s sophisticated digital infrastructure.

"Korea is the ideal
market for us to expand our digital distribution strategy," said Thomas
Gewecke, the president of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. "There is
already a broad base of consumers who are immersed in technology and very
comfortable getting movies through video-on-demand or similar services, and I
am proud of the team that made it possible for us to be the first U.S. studio
to offer this service to fans of Warner Bros. movies in Korea."

Henry Cho, the director
for South Korea at Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, added: "More than 94
percent of the households in South Korea have broadband connections. This new
service is just one of the ways Warner Bros. is offering more convenience and
choices that fit people's lifestyles."

A trial of the new
strategy is planned for the coming weeks. Specific titles will be announced as
they become available.
