FME Notches Up Got Talent Deals

LONDON, August 13: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has
shored up deals on its talent show America’s Got Talent, currently in its second season on NBC, in some 80
countries in the Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas.

The show, from FME and Simon Cowell’s Syco TV, has been
licensed to STAR TV in Asia in a pan-regional deal. Also in the region, the
show has gone to Mediacorp in Singapore, TVB in Hong Kong, Solar in the
Philippines and UBC TV in Thailand. Agreements were also signed with Seven
Network in Australia and SKY TV in New Zealand.

A pan-regional deal was secured across Latin America and the
Caribbean with Sony Entertainment Television, and in Canada deals were clinched
with CTV and the TVA Group.

Across Europe, the show has been picked up by ITV2 in the
U.K., TV3 in Ireland, TV4 in Sweden, Channel 4 in Finland and 365 Media in
Iceland.

“We are thrilled to announce this impressive first wave of
sales for America’s Got Talent,”
commented David Ellender, the CEO of FME. “Broadcasters all over the world
continue to show a massive appetite for variety and talent shows and they have
responded tremendously well in particular to this show’s extraordinary talent.
We are confident that America’s Got Talent will become a juggernaut that we are immensely proud to represent.”

The show, which made its debut on NBC last year, follows the
quest to find the best talent among a variety of acts including magicians,
jugglers, singers, dancers and many more, offering the winner a cash prize and
a chance at fame and stardom. It has regularly been the highest rated show of
the week in the U.S. and the best performing show in its time slot. The Got
Talent
format has been sold to 16 countries
around the world.
