BEVERLY HILLS: Vuguru has hired Carlo Martinelli as VP of development, in an effort to strengthen the independent studio’s web and multiplatform content offerings.

Martinelli previously served as a VP at Bona Fide Productions, where he was involved in films such as The Switch, Little Miss Sunshine, Little Children and Cold Mountain. Prior to joining Bona Fide, Martinelli worked in the motion picture literary department at the William Morris Agency.

“Vuguru is financing an unprecedented slate of scripted multiplatform projects this year—all sourced and developed by our preeminent creative team,” said Larry Tanz, the president of Vuguru. Kristin Jones, the chief creative officer of Vuguru to whom he will report, added, “Carlo’s background in literary and film development, coupled with his great eye for compelling story and talent, will be instrumental in helping Vuguru generate premium, compelling projects.”
