Vipers Nest Gets Russian Treatment

HILVERSUM, October 7:
Endemol Moscow has been commissioned by Channel One to produce a Russian
adaptation of the Talpa series Vipers Nest to air in prime time.

The series, originally
produced by Endemol Netherlands, mixes drama and comedy to tell the story of
four very different women who only seem to have one thing in common: their
extreme wealth. As their friendships blossom, they discover that they may not
be so different after all.

Production on the
16×1-hour Russian version will begin later this year. Endemol Moscow is already
working on a local version of the drama The Heritage for Channel One that will premiere later this year
as well.

Leonid Zagalsky, the
executive producer for Endemol Moscow, commented: “I’m delighted to have
secured our second prime-time scripted deal with Channel One. Vipers Nest is a funny and moving drama that has established
itself as an extremely popular show in Europe. It has all the hallmarks of hit
and I think it will have huge appeal to the Russian audience.”

Caroline Torrance, the
director of scripted programming and distribution at Endemol International,
added: “We’re very excited about Vipers Nest as a scripted format and I expect this to be the
first of many such deals for the show. Russia is a territory where we see
significant growth opportunities and I’m extremely pleased to have two major
drama commissions in place there.”
