Video Interview with Welcome to Sweden’s Greg Poehler

NEW YORK: Greg Poehler, the creator, executive producer and star of the comedy Welcome to Sweden, discusses the series, which debuts tonight on NBC.

Tonight on NBC, the new series Welcome to Sweden makes its U.S. premiere, airing Thursdays on the network at 9 p.m. The single-camera comedy is from executive producers (and siblings) Greg and Amy Poehler, and is based on Greg’s own real-life experience of moving to Sweden after falling in love with his now-wife.

The sitcom was originally commissioned by Sweden’s TV4 as the network’s first-ever English-language series, and it has since been renewed for a second season. It is produced by Entertainment One (eOne) Television, FLX, TV4 and Syskon (the latter is a production company formed by the brother-sister duo; the name is Swedish for “sibling”). eOne handles the worldwide rights for the series.

Greg Poehler recently spoke to World Screen’s Mansha Daswani about the series, discussing how much of it is actually based on his own life. He also tells us about working with his famously funny sister on the show.
