Video Interview: Studio100’s Patrick Elmendorff

NEW YORK: Patrick Elmendorff, managing director of Studio100 Media, talks about reinventing classic brands and developing 360-degree properties in this video interview.

Studio100 Media’s catalogue features a host of classic brands that have been updated and reinvigorated for a 21st-century audience. This includes the 3D-animated versions of Vicky the Viking, Maya the Bee and Heidi. Maya the Bee was presented in 3D for the first time at MIPCOM 2009. The 78×11-minute series, aimed at kids 2 to 6, follows the curious little Maya and her best friend Willy, who are always ready to discover new adventures. The new 3D version of Vicky the Viking, with 78 11-minute episodes in production, is aimed at 5- to 9-year-olds. Vicky continues to help the vikings of his little village out of delicate situations by using his head. Also in 3D is Enyo, for 8- to 12-year-olds, which is set in a prehistoric background. Further Studio100 offerings include Florrie’s Dragon, Amika, Kerwhizz, Zeke’s Pad and Big & Small. There’s also House of Anubis, which has been formatted into various markets and even spun off into feature films. The show has had a successful merchandising and licensing campaign as well.

As Patrick Elmendorff, the managing director of Studio100 Media, explains, building these types of properties with a 360-degree approach is a key focus for the company, which has its business lines in everything from theme parks to live events. In this video interview, Elmendorff talks to TV Kids Weekly about Studio100’s TV business, along with the additional areas that the company has branched out into.
