STOCKHOLM: Viasat satellite subscribers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland can view the final two days of the four day Sony Open in Hawaii live and in 3D.

Viasat launched 3D TV on December 16 with the introduction of a Viasat 3D on-demand service. The first live 3D event was offered to Viasat satellite subscribers in Sweden on December 27, with a Barclays Premier League match. This now marks the second pan-Nordic live 3D event, with subscribers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland getting a live broadcast in 3D from the Waialae Country Club on the island of Oahu. Viasat is also planning to offer live 3D matches from the final stages of the current UEFA Champions League season. For sports in 3D, subscriptions to the sports and movie packages are necessary.

“We are convinced that the experience 3D TV offers is something our viewers are not used to and it is really exciting that we can give our viewers the possibility to watch movies as well as football, ice hockey and now golf in 3D,” said Hans Skarplöth, the CEO of Viasat Sweden.
