Verizon, CBS in Retransmission, Program Carriage Deals

NEW YORK, January 12: Verizon has reached retransmission-consent and program-carriage deals to bring a range of CBS programming to its television and wireless customers.

With the retransmission consent deal for CBS’s owned and operated stations, Verizon will continue to offer the broadcast network on its FiOS TV service, which reaches more than 1.6 million subscribers in 14 states.

In addition, Verizon has secured the mobile rights for full episodes of several top-rated CBS entertainment and news programs, for carriage on the V CAST mobile video service. Plus, Verizon has national VOD rights for CBS programs in both standard and high definition format, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NCIS, Survivor and Numb3rs.

"We are extremely pleased to have reached this broad long-term agreement that recognizes the value of our programming," said Leslie Moonves, the president and CEO of CBS Corporation. "Verizon subscribers will have continued access to the number one TV network not only through FiOS TV, but also through V CAST on the mobile phone, which enhances our profile on a key emerging platform."
