Venevision Hails Success of Eva Luna

MIAMI: Venevision International’s Eva Luna drew in some 4.8 million viewers on Univision, leading the ratings in its Monday 8 p.m. time slot.

The telenovela, starring Guy Ecker and Blanca Soto, averaged a 20.5 rating on January 24 in its 8 p.m. slot on Univision, according to Nielsen’s National Hispanic People Meter. Eva Luna, produced in HD by Venevision Productions, airs in Puerto Rico and the U.S., and has been picked up in Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Ecuador and Georgia. Negotiations are under way in the Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Lithuania, Romania and Croatia.

Eva Luna is a modern love story set in Los Angeles. It tells the story of a strikingly beautiful yet humble enterprising young woman, Eva Gonzalez, who comes to the U.S. in search of a better life. She finds true love when she meets a successful advertising executive, a wealthy widower who has a young daughter. Yet his best friend will stop at nothing to conquer Eva, causing a rift between the two friends.
