NEW YORK: The Spanish-language channel V-me is showcasing everything from drama to lifestyle programming, movies, music, news and more in its 2010-11 lineup.

Highlights include El Quinto Mandamiento (The Fifth Commandment), a detective mystery set in and around Vatican City; Rex, about a crime-fighting dog; Hay Alguien Ahi (There’s Someone There), a paranormal drama; and Cuenta Atras (Countdown), a police series. There’s also the new docu-reality series Desafio en Himalaya (Himalaya Challenge), in which extreme outdoorsman Jesus Calleja takes six novice climbers on an adventure to the roof of the world.

On the lifestyle front, V-me Cocina is a daily two-hour cooking block that features top chefs from the U.S., Mexico, Latin America and Spain. The daily half-hour series TuBeBe, presented in association with Ser Padres Magazines, is hosted by mommy blogger Suzy Rosado. MiMascota.tv is dedicated to pets and the people who love them. V-me adds more to V-me Planeta, the daily block of natural history programming from PBS, BBC and NatGeo, with Buscando al Cronista Salvaje, a national multimedia talent search. The winner will become the host of V-me’s Spanish-language presentation of National Geographic’s Wild Chronicles (Cronicas Salvaje).

En Pantalla (On Screen), a weekly cinema series in Spanish features host Jack Rico, has been expanded to a regular weekly half-hour format. Estudio Billboard is V-me’s original hit music interview series, hosted by Leila Cobo. The channel extends its music offer across the schedule and online with Nota Musical, which features daily music news briefs hosted by popular blogger/journalist Ceceliz that cover international and Latin pop, rock and regional releases, tours, festivals and artists.

In the way of current-affairs programming, there are new seasons of Jorge Gestoso Investiga, a weekly series hosted and narrated by anchor/journalist Jorge Gestoso; Oppenheimer Presenta, new weekly programs from the Pulitzer Prize winner; Minuto 60, an incremental daily news sponsorship package that combines national drive-time radio with national prime-time TV.

"V-me continues to be the national alternative for America’s Latino families and for sponsors who want to connect with them," said Carmen DiRienzo, V-me’s president and CEO. "Our infront approach allows us to showcase targeted opportunities around our 2010-2011 offer, which is filled with engaging multiplatform programs and creative solutions that put V-me everywhere our viewers are."
