Universal Names Master Toy Licensee for Land Before Time

UNIVERSAL CITY, September 15: Universal Studios Consumer
Products Group has appointed Playmates Toys as the U.S. master toy licensee for
the upcoming animated television series The Land Before Time, which launches in the spring on Cartoon Network.

The merchandising campaign for the new 22-minute series that
will roll out in the fall includes figures, vehicles, playsets and plush,
featuring the franchise’s most popular characters, Littlefoot, Cera, Chomper
and Ducky, as well as new character introductions. The target audience is kids
aged 3 to 7.

The Land Before Time
television series is currently in development by Universal Studios Family
Productions. The 26-episode show will be stripped five days a week.

In addition to the television series, two new DVD titles are
slated to release over the next 24 months, and Cartoon Network episodes will be
available on DVD starting in 2007.

Licensing opportunities are now available from Universal
Studios Consumer Products Group across all categories including apparel,
accessories, interactive games, collectibles, fine art, home furnishings,
health and beauty aids, food and beverages, gifts, stationery products and
wireless communication devices and accessories.

The Land Before Time
is a billion-dollar property that boasts 11 installments over a 17-year period.
Considered the most successful feature-length children’s home entertainment
franchise of all time, it has sold more than 60 million units worldwide.
