LONDON: Universal Networks International (UNI) has introduced a new look, along with other enhanced elements, for its flagship entertainment offering Universal Channel in Russia, the Baltics and CIS as well as in Poland and Romania.

The refresh is part of UNI’s efforts to reorganize its TV channels under five revitalized core brands around the world. The new identity will debut today in Russia, the Baltics and CIS. Viewers in Poland and Romania will see the new look starting May 12. In conjunction, all the new Universal Channel websites will go live with videos, programming and episode details as well as the latest schedule information.

The channel’s lineup currently includes hits such as Nurse Jackie, Royal Pains, Castle and CSI: Miami. It will also feature original and first-run content such as the police drama Rookie Blue and the recently announced Facing Kate. In Russia, for the first time ever, Universal Channel will also feature local content with the premiere of the Russian movies Lovey Dovey and Lovey Dovey 2.

Colin McLeod, the managing director for Central and Eastern Europe at UNI, said: “The refreshed Universal Channel is a natural evolution for UNI. Building on Universal’s entertainment heritage we will continue showing quality content in an engaging TV environment, now further emphasized with a contemporary, vibrant channel identity. The new-look channel is packed with compelling characters such as the neurotic Dr. Gregory House, the compulsive Nurse Jackie, the straight-talking Hank Lawson in Royal Pains and the meticulous Horatio Caine in CSI: Miami, which our viewers will enjoy.”
