UKTV Commissions Hidden-Camera Show

LONDON: UKTV has ordered a new hidden-camera show from North One Television to air in prime-time exclusively on its new entertainment channel Watch.

Tentatively titled My Little Soldier, the show sets up missions for kids under 5, whether it’s running a cafe or a radio station. The 8×1-hour series combines hidden-camera location shoots with a live studio. UKTV will announce a host for the show shortly, and My Little Soldier is set for a fourth-quarter premiere on Watch.

North One Television’s managing director, John Wohlgemuth, said, “North One Television is really pleased to be working with UKTV on a project of this scale and ambition. It’s exciting to be producing such an innovative show for a new TV channel like Watch.”

UKTV’s director of entertainment commissioning, Lisa Perrin, added, “North One’s My Little Soldier is a brilliant new format where little people take on big challenges with amazing results. By creating bespoke missions set in conjunction with the parents, we ensure every challenge has genuine motivation. We’ve found the results to be utterly charming and often totally unpredictable.”

ALL3MEDIA Group’s entertainment and format executive, Ruth Wrigley, commented, “We are delighted that UKTV have taken My Little Soldier. It is one of those rare things—a fresh original entertainment format with mass appeal. It is edgy, funny and charming all at the same time—a big show with big ambitions.”

Christian Drobnyk, UKTV’s director of entertainment, said, “We wanted to deliver a high-profile, high-quality family entertainment show to ensure our new pay-TV channel, Watch, stands out in the market this autumn, and My Little Soldier fits the bill perfectly.”

Watch’s channel head, Paul Moreton, added, “Since launching Watch last October, we’ve found our growing audience love watching TV together and sharing the viewing experience as a family. By making kids the stars of the show, this series is sure to appeal to all the family, guaranteeing plenty of laughs and surprises.”
