U.K. Expansion for Africa Channel

LONDON/LOS ANGELES, August 14: The Africa Channel, a
U.S.-based cable and satellite network featuring content about and from the
African continent, has expanded into the international market, inking a
carriage deal with BSkyB.

The Africa Channel will launch on Sky’s Style & Culture
Mix on August 20. It will launch with two weeks of series previews to provide
viewers the opportunity to sample its programming and will begin its original
program schedule on September 3.

To coincide with its international expansion and its
upcoming second anniversary, the channel has acquired a host of new content,
including the scripted drama Jacob’s Cross,
the reality performance competition programs Dance Africa and Project Fame Africa, the music series Urban Massive, the sports highlights series DHL Sports
Africa
, the behind-the-scenes film program
Cinema Moments
and several specials.
