Worldwide Deals for ORF-Enterprise Factual Content

VIENNA: ORF-Enterprise has clinched several sales for its Universum brand, with broadcasters around the world signing package deals for the strand’s factual programming.

DR in Denmark nabbed a number of documentaries, among them Making an Ancient Forest, Africa’s Wild West, the 4K Ultra HD highlight Wild Venice and the 4K two-parter The Canary Islands. Sweden’s SVT also went for The Canary Islands, which will premiere this fall at MIPCOM.

Meanwhile, Thai PBS secured a package that includes Making an Ancient Forest, which has also been picked up by EBS in Korea, Italy’s RAI and France 5. The French broadcaster also acquired other titles from ORF’s wildlife lineup.

Bangkok Business Broadcasting signed on for a package made up of 40-plus hours of documentaries from ORF’s catalogue. Additionally, Fox Networks Group Italy will soon air the newest seasons of ORF’s Four Women and a Funeral, as well as a crime package of 90-minute spin-offs of the successful TV series Fast Forward.

In terms of ORF’s current affairs offers, a curated selection of titles from the strand World Journal will soon air on Switzerland’s SRF.

Knowledge Network in Canada secured the broadcast of musical highlights such as the two annual events Springtime in Vienna and Christmas in Vienna, as well as the recording Karajan: Requiem by Brahms from ORF’s music archive and Claudio Monteverdi’s Selva Morale e Spirituale from the concert series Baroque Treasures.

Various broadcasters showed interest in the documentary Mother Teresa: Saint of Darkness, which has been recently sold to the Latin American broadcaster VIP2000. Also, Chinese VOD platform Super Movie Entertainment took a package consisting of wildlife highlights, including the documentaries Secrets of Bumblebees, Planet Sparrow and Buddies: How Dog Discovered Man.

Finally, the two Jackson Hole Award-winning documentaries On a River in Ireland and A Tiger Called Broken Tail will soon be available worldwide on the SVOD platform curiositystream.com.
