Two new sports docuseries will be coming to BBC Three later this year: Boot Dreams: Now or Never and Ballers: Ball or Nothing.

Boot Dreams follows a group of players rejected by some of Britain’s top soccer clubs who are all trying to achieve their dream once more. Ballers, meanwhile, centers on Scotland’s only professional basketball team, chronicling its journey over the course of one season.

“Playing professional sport for young people is a dream for many, and these two series follow the challenges and dedication of what it takes to make it, and we are looking forward to showcasing these unique stories on BBC Three,” said Nasfim Haque, head of content for BBC Three.

From Expectation, Boot Dreams sees 16 players take part in a unique training camp that aims to get them a new professional contract. Throughout the four-week process, they are visited by presenter Roman Kemp, who once dreamed of becoming a pro himself. The men will have access to professional mentors, including Manchester United and Portugal player Bruno Fernandes, Lioness Millie Bright, Anton Ferdinand and Adebayo Akinfenwa.

“It was incredible to be part of this series, which sees such talented young men get another chance at pursuing their dreams of playing professional football,” Kemp said. “As a football fan myself, it truly was a memorable journey getting to know the players and supporting them in unlocking their potential, and I can’t wait for viewers to see it for themselves.”

Ballers: Ball or Nothing, produced by Renowned Films, begins as the Glasgow Rocks are taken over by new owners and rebranded as the Caledonia Gladiators. Made up of half Scottish talent and half American talent, the team becomes determined to break its 20-year drought of winning any trophies. With the new owners investing in better travel, players and a new stadium, the players and coaching staff strive to live up to the expectation.

Boot Dreams: Now or Never is set to debut on BBC Three and iPlayer this summer, while Ballers: Ball or Nothing is slated to premiere on BBC Scotland, BBC Three and iPlayer later in the year.
