TVF International has come on board China’s Wild Secrets, a five-part series narrated by Stephen Fry, as distributor and co-producer alongside bilibili.

Filmed over three years, the series delves into China’s vast and little-explored National Parks to uncover several previously unseen animal behaviors. It captures pandas, king cobras, white-lipped deer, tigers, flower mantises and more.

China’s Wild Secrets highlights the recoveries and ongoing challenges faced by these and other species.

TVF International has already presold the series to WDR/ARTE and pan-regional broadcaster Viasat World in Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. It has also presold the title to SRMG-owned Arabic-language platform Asharq Discovery for the Middle East and North Africa.

China’s Wild Secrets is set to be completed in July and will officially launch at MIPCOM this October.

“Narrating this wonderful series has been such a richly fulfilling and pleasurable experience,” Fry said. “I kept having to stop my reading just to gasp in wonder at the astonishing footage that the production crew managed to secure, much of it recording behavior never before captured on film. From the perky little pikas to the imperious Siberian tiger and so much in between, China contains a simply bewildering variety of wildlife that enacts its fabulous rituals of preying, fleeing, fighting, mating and breeding in dazzingly diverse habitats. What an honor to be involved in such a series.”

Julian Chou-Lambert, international executive producer for the series and TVF’s lead for China, added, “We are absolutely delighted to have someone as iconic as Sir Stephen on board this landmark series. His charm, creativity and humor, combined with his deep passion for wildlife and the natural environment, make him the ideal narrator to reveal China’s Wild Secrets to global audiences. The film-makers went to extraordinary lengths to capture both well-loved and little-known species in new ways, and we’re sure that viewers will be amazed by the series’ unique artistic, environmental and dramatic qualities.”
