TVF International Scores Nordic Deals

TVF International has signed a raft of deals for historical series and documentaries with broadcasters across the Nordics.

In Sweden, UR acquired Britain on Film with Tony Robinson, a TVF co-production with Available Light Productions. It captures 20th-century Britain through never-before-seen home-movie archives from the Blitz to the Beatles.

UR also picked up Iceland: Cold War Frontier. Sweden’s SVT acquired the EBS’s China’s Dragon Emperor and Asia’s Ancient Civilizations from Mediacorp Productions.

Axess Publishing picked up Secrets in the Bones: The Hunt for the Black Death Killer, produced by Infield Fly Productions for CBC, and Fact or Fiction: For Once and For All, produced by Posvideo for NPO.

YLE in Finland licensed Lost Pyramids of the Aztecs from Windfall Films. The series combines CGI imagery with exclusive access to archaeological excavations that investigate the vanished ancient world. It was also picked by SVT for Sweden and DR for Denmark and has aired on Viasat History.

In addition, Viasat History acquired Normandy ’44: D Day and the Battle for France, fronted by James Holland and produced by Typhoon Pictures.

Denmark’s DR licensed Dreadnought Destruction: Sinking the German Battle Fleet, produced by Berlin Productions for ZDF/ARTE, exploring the sinking of the German High Seas Fleet at Scapa Flow.

In Norway, VG TV picked up Wingspan Films’ Fake News: A True History, while TV2 Norway acquired Testimony Films’ 9/11: Escape from the Impact Zone.

Poppy McAlister, sales manager, said, “The Nordics have consistently been one of our fastest-growing territories, with the last year seeing record-breaking results from the region. The demand across Scandinavia for premium and diverse historical programming aligns seamlessly with the TVF catalog, so we are delighted to have brought so many of our documentaries to audiences in the territory.”
