TVF International has entered a co-production deal with China’s bilibili for the blue-chip wildlife series China’s Wild Secrets.

From a giant panda cub exploring the world through its teeth to a Siberian tiger tracking deer in the wild, China’s Wild Secrets explores some of the world’s most diverse ecosystems and animal behaviors. Filmed within the country’s national parks by a Chinese crew, the series is directed by Zeng Hairuo.

Completion is expected in early 2025.

Hairuo commented: “Filming in extreme and remote environments was very challenging, as we were often exposed to the elements and extremely high altitudes for extended periods. To find the most unique animal stories which haven’t been told before, our production team needed to use their unique understanding of the vast and diverse landscapes found within each National Park, some of which are the size of a whole country!”

Julian Chou-Lambert, TVF’s China lead and executive producer of the series, added: “China is a country the size of Europe, so the sheer diversity of wildlife habitats you can find is astonishing. But to create something really special, you need sufficient time, access and expertise. The production crew for China’s Wild Secrets was entirely local, and were able to film over a three-year period with unprecedented access, so they’ve been able to capture rare animals and behaviors that have never been seen before on film.”
