Too Ugly for Love? Scores DNI Recommission

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Following on the heels of the season two launch of Too Ugly for Love? in the U.K., Discovery Networks International (DNI) has renewed the dating series for a third season.

Produced by U.K. indie betty, the second season of Too Ugly for Love? premiered on TLC UK on January 13, ranking as a top ten all-day title on the channel. It is slated to roll out in other markets throughout February. The show has also been a ratings hit for TLC Sweden, TLC Denmark and Home & Health Colombia.

Too Ugly for Love? follows individuals who are navigating the world of dating while hiding long-term or incurable medical conditions from potential suitors. The show looks on as these individuals try to decide how much of their true selves they are willing to reveal for a chance at real love.

Too Ugly for Love? is a beautifully crafted series about the fears that too often divide us, the bravery of people willing to open themselves to love and the rewards of that courage,” said Marjorie Kaplan, the president of global content at Discovery Networks International. “The stories are individual but ultimately universal. We are delighted and proud that such a thoughtful and thought-provoking series has struck a chord with audiences around the world.”

“It’s a genuine privilege to tell the intimate, emotive and compelling stories that we have seen on Too Ugly for Love? over the years,” added Mark Procter, the acting head of production and development for factual entertainment at Discovery Networks International. “I’m thrilled that audiences around the world are engaging with these truly remarkable dating journeys and I’m delighted to be working with betty once again on another must-see series.”

“Looking for love is universal and something we can all relate to so we’re very happy to be working with Discovery Networks International on this series, which speaks to audiences across the globe,” said Neil Smith, joint managing director at betty.
