Video: The Wild Ones’ Aldo Kane, Declan Burley & Vianet Djenguet

Over 18 months, the crew behind Apple TV+’s The Wild Ones ventured into some of the world’s most remote and extreme environments to document and help protect six species at risk of extinction. Aldo Kane, a former Royal Marines Commando with decades of experience in hostile terrain; Declan Burley, a survivalist and camera trap expert; and Vianet Djenguet, a wildlife cinematographer and naturalist, came together to travel the globe to capture footage of the Malayan tiger, Gobi bear, Javan rhino, Western lowland gorilla, Caucasian leopard and North Atlantic right whale.

Throughout their journey, the trio partnered with various conservation and scientific collaborators, including WWF Armenia, the Malaysian Wildlife Department and NGO Pelindung, the Canadian Department for Fisheries and Oceans and more to document and aid their conservation efforts. Working alongside local scientists, trackers and residents, their goal was to portray a holistic approach to protecting endangered species.

Kane, Burley and Djenguet sat down with TV Real Weekly to talk about the hundreds of custom-built cameras for the project, ensuring the crew’s safety throughout filming and their partnerships with locals and organizations around the world.
