Cineflix Rights has taken on distribution for The History of Comedy, a new eight-part series from Turner, and has already closed a number of deals with broadcasters.

Sky Arts in the U.K., Discovery in Poland, Movistar+ in Spain and YES DBS in Israel have all snapped up the series, with additional sales expected in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The CNN original combines archival footage and contemporary interviews with comedy legends and scholars such as Norman Lear, Carol Burnett, Larry David and more. The show explores what makes the comedic mind tick and examines how comedy has affected the social and political landscape throughout history.

Chris Bonney, the CEO of Rights at Cineflix Media, said: “Featuring candid interviews with some of the genre’s biggest stars, The History of Comedy leaves viewers in stitches. This one-of-a-kind series is already proving popular with our buyers in the international marketplace. It’s exactly the type of high-quality, stand-out programming that we’ll be looking to acquire more of.”
