TCB Media Rights is introducing to the marketplace three new documentary series for worldwide distribution, with all of the titles having been financed through its sales team and network of broadcaster funders.

Manchester-based indie Title Role has begun production on two user-generated series, World’s Wildest Weather and World’s Worst Flight (a.k.a. Flights, Camera, Action). World’s Wildest Weather chronicles extreme weather events around the globe through firsthand witness accounts and user-generated content. The show was prebought by Channel Nine in Australia, SKY TV in New Zealand and RMC Découverte in France. World’s Worst Flights, meanwhile, uses firsthand accounts, archive material and passenger footage to tell the stories of people who survived terrifying experiences in the air. Channel 5 in the U.K., Australia’s Channel Nine, RMC Découverte, WeltN24 in Germany and SKY TV have all pre-invested in the project.

Helen Tonge, co-owner and managing director of Title Role, said, “We are thrilled to be working with TCB on these two series. The changing landscape of commissioning means a model like this between producers and distributors is viable and exciting if you take a different approach to structuring the deal.”

In addition, Worldmark Films is producing Caught on Dash Cam/Car vs World, a brand-new clip show that features examples of the world’s worst and most surprising driving. The series is broken down into different themes, including crime, weather and animals, and uses footage caught on dashboard cameras, CCTV cameras, mobile phones and GoPros. Caught on Dash Cam was prebought by Sky in the U.K., Channel Seven in Australia, Germany’s WeltN24 and Mediaworks in New Zealand.

Paul Heaney, the CEO of TCB Media Rights, stated, “Our model is to develop ideas in partnership with our community of indie producers, based on international feedback from our sales team. We then put a funding structure in place, including presales, which frees producers from the stress of the contemporary commissioning process. Getting content made is no mean feat in today’s market, where broadcasters and VOD platforms have widely differing strategies and budgets. Success depends on flexibility, imagination, ingenuity and a commercial model that’s as creative as your show’s content. And this is what TCB does best.”
