FX has extended its partnership with The New York Times, ordering more documentary films under The New York Times Presents banner.

A documentary series based on materials drawn from The New York Times Magazine and Nikole Hannah-Jones’ The 1619 Project is slated to debut in the U.S. on Hulu as part of a distribution agreement between Lionsgate and Disney General Entertainment Content’s BIPOC Creator Initiative.

The New York Times docuseries The Weekly is slated to make its debut on FX in June.

Red Arrow Studios International has secured global rights to distribute The Weekly, an upcoming series produced by The New York Times and Left/Right.

FX has scored the first-run North American rights for The Weekly, The New York Times’ first major foray into TV news, in partnership with Hulu, which will be the exclusive SVOD streaming home for new episodes the day after they air.
