Smithsonian Channel is set to debut the three-part series Private Lives of the Windsors and the one-hour documentary Princess Diana’s ‘Wicked’ Stepmother in October.

Co-produced by Renegade Pictures, Smithsonian Networks and Channel 4, Private Lives of the Windsors reveals the inner lives of Queen Elizabeth’s father, uncles and aunt. First-time access to personal diaries and letters uncover scandals and secrets, including details of Edward’s infamous abdication and marriage, love affairs and drug use.

Princess Diana’s ‘Wicked’ Stepmother introduces the titular stepmother Raine Spencer née Legge, who was a formidable figure in the late princess’ life. The doc features interviews with insiders such as the countess’ close friends and staff, Diana’s personal assistant Paul Burrell and screenwriter Julian Fellowes, who paint a picture of a volatile rivalry between the two women. It is produced by Firecrest Films LTD and distributed globally by Fremantle.

Private Lives of the Windsors is slated to premiere on Smithsonian Channel on Monday, October 7, while Princess Diana’s ‘Wicked’ Stepmother is set to bow on Monday, October 28.
