Sky Sports Orders Docuseries with Footballer Jamie Vardy

LONDON/LEICESTER: Sky Sports has commissioned Zig Zag Productions’ untitled documentary series featuring Leicester City and England footballer Jamie Vardy and his V9 Academy.

The as-yet-untitled series follows Vardy on his mission to discover non-league talent and promote worthy players to professional football while offering them a unique educational experience through his V9 Academy. The V9 Academy will host 42 football players for a five-day residential program. The series, which is a co-production with Krempelwood Entertainment, will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how coaching, sport science, fitness methodology, mental training and talent identification are carried out at an elite level. The show will also follow the stories of the hopefuls.

“Jamie Vardy without doubt was the poster boy for the phenomenal story that was Leicester winning the league last season,” said Danny Fenton, CEO of Zig Zag Productions. “Now he wants to offer that fairy-tale opportunity to others like him who are playing in the non-league and want to be professionals. Zig Zag have secured exclusive access to Jamie and his V9 Academy and with the support of Sky we look forward to bringing this six-part series to the world.”

“The V9 team are really excited to be working with Zig Zag Productions and Sky to document the V9 Academy and hope that we will be able to give audiences a unique window into what it takes to become a professional footballer,” commented John Morris, co-founder of the V9 Academy. “The V9 Academy is dedicated to the idea of developing talent and giving the potential stars of tomorrow the chance that they deserve. Now viewers will be able to join the journey as we search the country for the next Jamie Vardy.”
