Sky Arts has commissioned a second season of Drum Studios’ Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir, which had the biggest series launch on the channel so far this year.

Season two will see Jim and Nancy embark on another tour of the U.K. and Ireland, visiting a range of locations to explore the local birdlife and meet local artists and conservation experts, as well as a host of celebrity guests. They will then take on the challenge of creating artwork inspired by the regions they visit and species they observe.

The duo will visit Chatsworth Estate to learn about the dippers, Battersea Power Station to spot a pair of nesting peregrines and the Antrim Coast to see puffins in their wild habitat, plus much more. They will also try their hand at an array of artistic techniques during their travels, including creating linocuts of stilts and golden plovers in Wrexham, learning about the local community project The Hide Sculpture in Fingal, Dublin, and using traditional Chinese ink and calligraphy brushes to paint Loch Mallochie in the Scottish Highlands.

Season two went into production in May 2023. It will air on Sky Arts, Freeview and NOW in 2024.

Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir is produced by Drum Studios, part of Omnicom Media Group, headed by Andy Holland. Danny Carvalho and Sadia Butt are the executive producers.
