Sky Arts Commissions Philip Larkin Doc

Icon Films is making an hour-long special for Sky Arts about Philip Larkin that will be hosted by former poet laureate Sir Andrew Motion.

Set for Sky Arts’ Passions season, Philip Larkin by Sir Andrew Motion will explore the British poet’s life and work and his relationship to his home city of Hull. Larkin passed away more than three decades ago but remains one of the U.K.’s most celebrated and revered poets.

“It’s an incredible honor to work with Sir Andrew Motion on this documentary about one of our finest poets and really exciting for Icon Films to collaborate, for the first time, with Sky Arts,” said Stephen McQuillan, head of factual at Icon Films. “We are delighted to be given the opportunity to make a genuinely innovative film with a mix of personal journey documentary and beautifully shot performance to create a unique take on the life of Phillip Larkin.”
