Short-Form Shark Week Show Set for Snapchat

Discovery Communications has unveiled Shark Week on Snapchat, a new short-form series based on Discovery Channel’s prime-time summer event and created exclusively for Snapchat’s Discover platform.

Shark Week on Snapchat will be hosted by comedian Jordan Carlos. The show starts off with Sharks, They’re Just Not That into You, which explains how the aquatic creatures are not naturally attracted to humans as prey. The second episode, titled Sharks: Nature’s Bad Ass, explores how sharks have survived all five mass extinctions to become the world’s most dangerous predator. The series will conclude with These Sharks Shouldn’t Exist, which looks at alien species of sharks that live miles below the ocean’s surface.

Shark Week on Snapchat debuts on Sunday, July 23, the same day that Shark Week will premiere around the globe on Discovery Channel. Each of the show’s three episodes will remain on the platform for two days before the next installment becomes available. The series was produced by Discovery’s original content team and Group Nine Studios.

Also on July 23, Snapchat users will gain exclusive access to a special Shark Week-themed lens with which they can “shark” themselves.
