Sean Penn & El Chapo Doc to Air on REELZ

ALBUQUERQUE: REELZ has lined up the original documentary special El Chapo & Sean Penn: Bungle in the Jungle for a March premiere.

Airing on March 10 at 9 p.m., El Chapo & Sean Penn: Bungle in the Jungle offers a behind-the-scenes look inside the famed meeting among Academy Award-winning actor Sean Penn, actress Kate Del Castillo and the infamous drug lord Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, known as “El Chapo.” The drug lord agreed to meet Penn in the remote mountains of Sinaloa, Mexico, granting the first and only interview since his escape from Mexico’s top-security prison.

The hour-long documentary explains who orchestrated the meeting and the motivation behind it. El Chapo & Sean Penn: Bungle in the Jungle features interviews with, among others, Penn’s former assistant Tyrel Ventura, attorney and Del Castillo’s friend Vance Owen, comedian and El Chapo relative Paul Rodriguez, Narcos co-creator and producer Chris Brancato, immigration attorney and Emmy Award-winning TV judge Cristina Perez, and actress and former Penn co-star Maria Conchita Alonso.
