Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, Patriot Games) has signed on to narrate the blue-chip documentary special Osprey: Sea Raptor, produced by Love Nature and CosmoVision Media Group.

The one-hour special will profile the true story of a raptor couple as they reunite having traveled separately across continents to the same location year after year to raise their young. Osprey: Sea Raptor will roll out on Love Nature’s linear and streaming platforms, outside of the U.S. and U.K., beginning this fall.

Osprey: Sea Raptor, a co-production between Love Nature and The WNET Group (PBS Nature), will also roll out on Sky Nature in the U.K. Blue Ant International will oversee the film’s international licensing and pre-sale opportunities.

Bean said: “It’s a rare treat to see ospreys in my part of the world, so it’s a wonderful experience to be part of a story that gives an up-close look at these magnificent birds of prey. The team truly immersed themselves in the life journey of these ospreys, and I can’t wait to see the finished special.”

Carlyn Staudt, global general manager of Love Nature, said: “Sean Bean’s distinctive narration brings both drama and relatability to this incredible look inside the lives of ospreys. The storytelling in Osprey: Sea Raptor, combined with the next-level natural history filmmaking it took to capture intimate details inside a wild nest, raises the bar on Love Nature’s commitment to bringing viewers closer to nature and wildlife.”

Jacob Steinberg, director of Osprey: Sea Raptor and founder of CosmoVision Media Group, said: “Ospreys are so loved the world over, and yet they lacked a definitive wildlife film. The moment I began observing the family that would become the film’s iconic subjects, I knew theirs was a story that would resonate across generations and borders. Love Nature and WNET have been amazing partners, and together we have delivered an intimate story that is local, yet global, and packed with scenes of tenderness and high drama.”
