Scenery and V-Ventures have teamed up to form SV DOCS, an investment initiative specifically designed for investigative journalists.

SV DOCS aims to empower investigative journalists and filmmakers to share their stories with an international audience by bridging the gap between journalism and filmmaking. Financial support, guidance and assistance throughout development and production is provided.

V-Ventures is allocating €1 million ($1.07 million) in development funds for SV DOCS, which will be awarded to high-quality journalistic documentaries rooted in thorough research and aimed at reaching a global audience.

Isidoor Roebers and Lea Fels, producers at Scenery, said: “We are both proud and grateful that our documentaries have caught the attention of V-Ventures. Thanks to the SV DOCS investment initiative, we are now able to fulfill our mission of telling impactful stories for an international audience in a journalistic manner. Collaborating with experienced journalists and talented filmmakers, we leverage our production expertise and extensive international network to highlight remarkable journalistic documentaries worldwide.”

Lot Carlier, executive director of V-Ventures, commented: “By connecting investigative journalists with high-quality filmmakers and providing substantial financial support for the development of journalistic documentaries, SV DOCS aims to bring thoroughly researched stories to a broader audience while generating additional income for the involved journalists. This aligns seamlessly with our strategy to strengthen the European journalistic ecosystem.”

Youri Albrecht, chairman of Vereniging Veronica/V-Ventures, added: “In recent years, we have seen a significant contribution of documentaries to the journalistic landscape. Stories from investigative journalists also prove to be suitable for exciting, well-watched and substantive films. With this initiative, we hope to contribute to reinforcing this positive trend.”
