Rumpus Media Bolsters Development Team, Promotes Pair

Rumpus Media has promoted two of its existing team members, Fintan Maguire and Morgan Roberts, while adding B Inclusive co-founder Jacqueline Baker to its development team.

Fintan Maguire becomes director of factual. Fintan joined the company in 2017 as head of popular factual, and during that time has developed and executive produced a range of factual series for Channel 5, including, The World By Train with Sir Tony Robinson, Walking Britain’s Lost Railways, Weekend Breaks with Gregg Wallace and Murdered In Paradise.

Morgan Roberts has been promoted to head of factual entertainment. Over the last two years, Roberts has celebrated multiple successes executive producing Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan for BBC Two, as well as working on a number of unannounced commissions. In his new role, Morgan will oversee key factual entertainment titles and talent-led projects and reports to joint MDs Emily Hudd and Iain Wimbush.

Baker joins Rumpus Media in January as development assistant producer. She will report to Hudd and Wimbush and bolsters the development team as well as being tasked with working with emerging talent across the slate. Having previously co-founded the B Inclusive Task Force, Baker has also held roles in BBC entertainment and music commissioning, in development at BBC Studios, supporting BBC factual entertainment commissioning, at Syco Music and started her media career at Channel 4.

Maguire said: “I’ve loved my first few years at Rumpus Media and I’m very much looking forward to the next chapter. Factual is such a broad and exciting space and we’re delighted to be working on some great shows with brilliant talent, on- and off-screen.”

Roberts said: “Taking on a permanent role overseeing factual entertainment at Rumpus Media means I can do more of what I love, the creative process of making shows, building happy, motivated teams and working to produce surprising, thoughtful and entertaining television.”

Hudd commented: “Morgan is a rare talent who walks the line between factual and comedy with intelligence and sensitivity. His collaborative, intuitive approach to program-making and shaping projects around talent has made him a very important part of our team over the past few years. We’re really excited about his expanded remit with us.”

Wimbush added: “The last few years our aim has been to build brands and create returning series. Talent is also key and Jacqueline has a keen eye for spotting and championing the stars of the future. Her work this year with B Inclusive is hugely impressive and we look forward to her helping us to further diversify our teams both in front of and behind the camera.”

Baker said: “Rumpus’s ambition to push emerging talent or create new formats with existing talent is one that strongly resonates with me. I look forward to developing more ideas with them through 2021 and beyond.”
